Judgment Lien after Chapter 7 discharge

Judgment Lien after Chapter 7 discharge

Letter to “Ask Leon”

One of my credit cards placed a lien on my house. With a chapter 7 discharge, does that lien go away? The Lien was placed about 30 days before the chapter 7 was filed.

Leon Says…

The lien does not automatically go away. There is a procedure that must be followed. If the case is closed, you may need a motion to reopen your case so that you can then seek an Order avoiding the lien. You can read all about this in my Guide. Paste this link into your browser and read the material. Then you should seriously consider getting an attorney, as you are probably in over your head.
