Credit Card Debt and Bankruptcy

Credit Card Debt and Bankruptcy

Letter to “Ask Leon”

I’ve heard that even if your credit cards are declared in the bankruptcy, you still have to pay the remainder under the new law. True or false?

Leon Says…

False! If the court finds that you are eligible for relief, that your debts were incurred under honest, good faith circumstances, and that you legitimately cannot afford to pay back any part of those debts, they will be discharged. I assume you heard that falsehood from a bill collector?
