Letter to “Ask Leon”

I have a roommate and I am filing Chapter 13 in North Carolina. They are requiring her income, but not her expenses. Why is this and will this hurt my case?

The only reason I can think of is perhaps you have you given them some reason to believe that the person more than a roommate. The court system is interested to know about all sources of support and income that you enjoy. If you are “shacked up” in a domestic relationship, the extent of what you spend on supporting the other person, and vice versa become relevant.
